Support at Home is the government's in-home care program that replaced Home Care Packages on 1 November 2025. It delivers personalised care, faster access, and more flexibility, so you can keep living safely and comfortably at home.
Australians aged 65 and over, and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 50 and over may be eligible.
Services include clinical and nursing care, personal care, everyday living assistance, assistive technology, home modifications, allied health, short-term respite care, and short-term restorative care, all tailored to your individually assessed needs.
Services are government subsidised, similar to Medicare. Depending on the type of service you receive and your financial situation, you may be asked to make a contribution towards some services. Full pensioners typically contribute approximately 5–18% towards non-clinical services. Any unused funds may also roll over each quarter.
Support at Home is designed to be flexible. As your circumstances change, your care plan adapts, ensuring you always receive the right level of support to remain independent at home.
Yes, Support at Home is primarily focused on older Australians, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who meet the relevant age criteria. There are also other programs and services available for people under 65 who may need support.
